Every brand and business has a name. And behind that name is a story and a mission.
Rooted Oaks Designs is no different in that respect.
But what is the story behind the name? What is the mission of Rooted Oaks?
Uprooted.
I (Jessica) have gone through several seasons of being rooted up, being moved from one place to another. In the latest season, that uprooting has taken me from the United States of America to India, my husband's home country.
In being uprooted and transplanted so many times, I have found it imperative to become adaptable, to put down my roots wherever I might be, and allow myself to flourish in whatever situation I might find myself in.
I see the name "Rooted Oaks" as a description of who I am, and who I aim to be - both personally and professionally. To be flexible, to be adaptable, to be capable of flourishing in any situation, to be continually in a cycle of growth, creation, and rest.
In addition, the oak tree is renowned for its beauty and strength, capable of withstanding adverse weather, and also producing wood that can be crafted into durable, yet elegant, designs.
That's exactly the sort of work I endeavor to do. Beautiful, powerful, and elegant.
At the same time, I am a deeply religious person. And as a Christian, one of my favorite quotes from the Bible is from Isaiah 61:1-4, which refers to a nation becoming like "oaks of righteousness."
The term "righteous" has two meanings, one religious or moral and the other secular. The religious meaning is to be "morally right" while the secular meaning is "excellent; very good; genuine."
It's my aim as the person behind Rooted Oaks Designs to be someone of integrity, excellent, good ethics, who is also genuine. And the work I do? It flows out of that character.
Mission.
The mission of Rooted Oaks Designs is to serve my clients by creating excellent designs and crafting powerful content. It is to change the world one graphic, decor piece, or blog post at a time.
